Alumni

The Alumni Association, Department of Zoology, Berhampur University has been established in 1994. The past and present students and the teachers of the department are the members of the association. At present, there are about 600 members. Every year the alumni meet with the current student members of the department in a reunion function during the Annual Day celebration of the Zoology Seminar and it is followed by the General Body meeting of the association. Besides, the Executive Body of the Association meets two to three times each year. The basic objectives of the association are to reunite the past and present students so that they can know and interact with each other; to extent financial help to the needy members; to encourage the present students in their academics by instituting different medals and prizes; to felicitate the retiring members of the association; and give oration to the members for their outstanding contributions in the field of science and to the society at large. In the reunion function, each year, one Gold Medal, one Silver Medal and 10 different cash prizes are awarded to the present and just pass-out students of the department for their significant achievements. Besides, a bulletin is published each year citing different activities of the association.
